NY museum exhibits child royalty portraits

The Nassau County Museum of Art has held an exhibition of oil paintings, depicting royal luminaries and historical figures as children.

Facing Destiny: Children in European Portraiture (1500-1900) displays 40 portraits painted in the style of the Old Masters Schools of Western Europe.

The works are part of the Fundacion Yannick y Ben Jakober in Majorca, Spain and will be on display in New York until May 25, artdaily reported.

The exhibition is also a useful introduction to Western European style, fashion and artistic development over centuries.

France's King Louis XIV and King Louis XV, Spain's King Charles III and Queen Isabella II and Austria's Emperor Joseph II are among the royal figures depicted in the exhibited paintings.
